So I decided the other day to use Facebook (yes good ol' Facebook) to find out what kind of advice Licensed therapists (besides just myself) might give to the prelicensed folks. I got this simple message from a great therapist in private practice in Modesto, Ca. Here are her straightforward tips- hope you enjoy:
Four of the things I remember being very valuable to me as a pre-licensed therapist were:
1) having a mentor I could look up to, 2) taking the initiative to attend additional workshops on topics that I had special interest in, 3) having a supervisor who really understood the details involved in the licensing process, and 4) having a cohesive group of peers to rely on for support.
