I am a special kind of coach and guide who helps pre-licensed MFTs and LCSWs reach their goals. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, who has helped hundreds of interns through the licensure process I have an intimate understanding of the process from graduate school to licensure.

My clinical supervisors were great, but did not have the skills and knowledge needed to help guide me through the licensure process, I ended up feeling all alone! Here are some things that happened while I went along my path:

  • I received misinformation about counting and collecting hours.
  • I was unsure of my clinical development, and worried that I wasn't as skilled as I needed to be.
  • I had no idea what study materials to buy or how to use them.
  • I was amazed at how much had been missed during my internship and felt like I had to play catch-up while studying.
  • I failed my vignette exam by 1 point and felt devastated and confused. (Check out my full story here).

These are just a few of the things that I experienced while going through my internship process. Sound familiar? I have been where you are, and I haven't forgotten what it feels like! After failing my vignette exam, I searched out support and developed a free online study group. While my exam results were later overturned, I found that the study group was such a powerful way for pre-licensed professionals to connect.

It also became apparent that many of us were getting stuck in the same points, again and again! As the study grew to over 500 people, and I started receiving more and more requests for individualized support, I realized I had to make a change. A full time job, a part time teaching job, and a 20 hour a week volunteer job (the study group) was going to lead to burnout. That is when MFTGuide.com was born. It allows me to provide the individualized services that people need, while avoiding burnout.

As a coach and consultant I am constantly amazed at how powerful individualized support is! I have seen people move from apathy and burnout to motivation and a sense of empowerment in less than 2 hours! I love my work and the feedback that I get from my clients tells me it works. Even so, I am committed to constantly working to improve my services and ensure that I am providing the best services out there.

I am happy to talk with you and answer questions you may have about the consultation process before you commit to services with me. Feel free to check out the FAQ section or contact me at miranda@mftguide.com or (209) 343-2771.
